Worship

At St Mary Bredin, we are a community of people who 'belong to God' (1 John 4:4).  We are 'a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation' who have received mercy and seek to declare the praises of him who 'called us out of darkness into his wonderful light' (1 Peter 2:9).  We were created for one purpose: to serve and glorify the One who alone is worthy of our praise (Revelation 4:11).  In heaven, worship is what we will do for all eternity!  As a church family, we want to worship God ‘in spirit and in truth’ (John 4:23) and one way in which we do this is through our corporate sung worship.

It is our desire that any time of corporate worship at SMB would enable people to encounter God; to be transformed into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18); to be renewed as He speaks, heals, restores and reveals; to be united as His people (1 Peter 2:9); and to be released to live out 'holy and pleasing' lives of worship (Romans 12:1).

Getting involved

Being involved in the worship team is a great way to get plugged into church-life and develop the gifts that God has given us.  We are always happy to welcome new musicians: not only those familiar with contemporary bands, but also classically-trained orchestral musicians, organists, those with choral experience and anyone inbetween! Alongside our Sunday Services, opportunities to get involved with the musical worship at SMB include First Thursday, Awake! Prayer, Essential Prayer, Student Night, CYFA and Children’s Church.

Audio/Visual team

We rely on a dedicated AV team to facilitate our times of corporate sung worship and we are always looking for new members to join the team.  All that is needed is a willingness to learn, as full training is provided! Please contact the church office or enquire at the welcome desk for more information.

What we value?

Authenticity: In all of our musical worship, we want to remember that God cares about our hearts. 1 Samuel 16 v.7 says: ‘The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart’.
Anointing: It is our desire that those involved in the musical worship at SMB should be anointed for this particular ministry (1 Chronicles 23:30; 1 Chronicles 25:6).
Excellence: As the Psalmist writes, we also endeavour to ‘play skillfully, and shout for joy’, for He deserves our best (Psalm 33:3).
