Pastoral Oversight Team

We are a team of people with a passion to see pastoral care at the heart of St Mary Bredin. We meet every 6-8 weeks and represent the following areas of care:

j0426559Networks

Relationships are at the heart of church life and as such network groups are the key to pastoral care. These small groups provide excellent support in times of need, change, crisis or stress. They are a group of people that can pray with and stand by each other. Groups can also help in practical ways such as moving house or redecorating!
We would encourage everybody to be in a network group, however if time or circumstances do not allow this then there is an option to become an associate member. This can involve anything from prayer support to occasional socials to belonging to a friendship group within the larger church.

Frontline Pastoral Care

This is a small group of people who aim to be aware of people on the edges of church, those not integrating or fitting in. They also look out for church members or others who are struggling and need extra pastoral care and if appropriate pass them on to Network Groups or Care Net.

Mentoring

Looking after the pastoral needs of the individual j0438983

congregan at SMB is a difficult job, as we are a large, growing church. However, each person should feel that they have someone that they can talk to and pray with. Their needs as an individual need to be met in order to function as part of the body. Mentoring is a broad term for this kind of care. People have different needs, which could fall into one of these groups, although they are by no means prescriptive; mentoring, mutual accountability, prayer partnership.

Care Net

Sometimes life lands you with things you just can't handle on your own and what you need is someone objective who can listen to you, or someone compassionate who will pray with you. Sometimes it helps to have someone who will walk with you towards healing. That's what Care Net is about. St Mary Bredin is blessed with compassionate, skilled pastors who offer their time to listen and pray with anyone who would like their help. If you'd like some support, then please apply to Care Net (see Care Net form) and we'll do our best to find the right person to help you.

Prayer ministry

God knows our needs and answers our prayers often in ways we don’t expect. Through his Holy Spirit he brings healing of our physical, emotional and spiritual needs and draws us closer to himself. A trained prayer ministry team is available during services.

ACTS

Acts@smb exists in order to build God’s SMB community by showing God’s love in practical ways. Examples of practical support are cooking and delivering meals, driving errands, and DIY. This practical support is offered both to people who know God and those who don’t. A list of people who wish to provide practical support is kept, and these people are contacted when community needs arise (all details are kept securely through the SMB website).

Church members can read the mission statement here.
